Twenty years of
asking the same question,
how do we share knowledge
in ways that change lives?

2BalanceU did not begin as a wellness company. It began as a network for women carrying knowledge across borders. Every chapter since, the PhD, the books, the podcast, the retreat, the WHOLE platform, has answered the same question, a little better, with a little more evidence.

A network for the women moving through the world.

Long before Facebook became the default architecture of human connection, we built a social-search network for globally mobile professional women. The premise was simple, and, in hindsight, ahead of its time: when a woman moves for work, for love, for her own reasons, she becomes a local expert. She knows the doctor who actually listens. She knows the community group that won't make her feel invisible. She knows how this city works.

2BalanceU let her share that knowledge with the women coming after her.

grew on trust alone.

We grew through women's professional networks, through word of mouth, through the kind of organic trust-building no ad spend can manufacture. And we learned something we have never let go of: community is infrastructure. Knowledge is a form of care. Belonging is medicine.

Knowledge is power. Sharing is powerful. 2BalanceU's registered motto, since 2005

We also learned something harder: building something genuinely new, with no out-of-the-box blueprint, is a systems problem, and most people around you are optimized for what already exists. We kept that lesson close.

The PhD, written through illness.

Between 2BalanceU and what came next, the founder spent years advising on social strategy, digital wellbeing, and emerging technology, working with VCs, startups, and keynote stages, writing about the digital self while building one in real time. Then it was back to university for a doctorate.

The original thesis was on values-based social leadership. Mid-research, biology intervened: Lyme disease, then Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Both autoimmune. Both chronic. Both invisible to most people who looked at her.

The thesis pivoted with the body. From social leadership to wearables as interventions for presenteeism, because she was now, very personally, living the problem. What does it mean to show up for your work when your body is actively working against you? What can technology actually do to help? And what does it demand of us in return?

The methodology, the hacks, the protocols, the radical prioritization, the deep listening to her own biology, is the direct ancestor of WHOLE.

Books, the podcast, Valhalla d'Oc.

The years that followed brought more, on every front: the Digital Self Mastery book series, Evolving Digital Self (now in its fifth season), global keynote stages, deep reading in behavioral science and wearables research. A 500-hour yoga teacher certification, specializing in Yin and brain longevity. Certification as a Brain Longevity Specialist through ARFP.

Then menopause arrived. And COVID. Around the same time, her mother began showing the familiar signs of dementia.

Brain longevity stopped being an intellectual interest. It became personal in the way only a parent's decline can make something personal.

I moved to the south of France and began building Valhalla d'Oc, an applied-research retreat center in Languedoc. Not to retreat from the work, but to integrate everything I had learned about healthspan: movement, enrichment, nourishment, mindfulness, connection. The five pillars that had been living in my research and my body for years, finally given physical form. Heidi, on Valhalla d'Oc

Valhalla d'Oc is where WHOLE was field-tested before it became a platform. The guests were real. The conditions were real. The results, in energy, clarity, resilience, and joy, were real.

WHOLE, what twenty years was building toward.

My naturopathic doctor gave me a protocol for autoimmune flares. Followed by a protocol for menopause. Friends on what “cancer diets” had been given something very similar. A friend on sick leave for burnout came back with almost the same list. Upon learning the FINGER protocol for cognitive decline, once again, the recommendations aligned.

Five specialties. Five conditions. One short list. Move. Eat well. Sleep. Manage stress.

In every one of those conversations a woman said the same thing. I do not have the support system. Each of us was running a demanding daily protocol alone. So I added the fifth thing. That is what makes it WHOLE.

Then the research caught up. Social connection is in only two and a half of those five sets of guidelines. It is absent from menopause and autoimmune entirely. The two I live with. That gap is the product.

The anchor citation is the FINGER trial, the 2015 Lancet trial that improved cognition in 1,260 at-risk older adults, and was replicated in the US in 2025 and across Latin America in 2026. Its four FINGER-aligned pillars are Movement, Nourishment, Mindfulness, and Enrichment. The fifth, Connection, is what those five conversations added.

WHOLE addresses what we call the CHAINS conditions: Cognitive challenges, Hormonal disruption, Autoimmune dysregulation, Inattention/ADHD, Neurological fog, Stress & burnout. Not as separate problems, but as six linked pathways that keep turning up together. The most plausible thing underneath them is chronic, low-grade inflammation. It is measurable, and it responds to how you live.

Both trials that proved the cognitive arm ran through small peer groups. But the real evidence for the circle is not in the dementia literature at all. It is in what happens to women who try to keep a health protocol on their own. Joining with friends took full maintenance from 24% to between 66 and 83%. A live group beat a self-serve app almost two to one.

We knew that. We knew it in 2005, when we built a platform on the premise that women sharing wisdom is its own form of medicine. We know it now.
